Maybe there's a woman who owns a building. Every morning she paints it white then leaves for hours. When she finally comes home her white building is covered with chalk, kids writing notes to one another in violet and navy blue. Graffiti artists have used pink, green, and black to spell out "My freedom is on layaway" in bombastic bubble letters. Descendants of Salvador Dali remix his melting watch painting by using iPods instead. Politicians running for office write their campaigns in red, white, and blue block script. School teachers cross out their campaigns and use caligraphy to write out their miserable education budget next to the government's grand defense budget. Poets collaborate with linguists and write the same story, short and poignant, over and over in different languages.

The woman takes pictures of the community's gallery and shares the images with the world to remind them that the walls belong to us.
